What to write about today.

I am trying my best to write everyday. Somedays the ideas come easy, mostly because something has happened that has stirred a memory or brought up a fear. I do have a list of ideas to pull from when I cannot think of something, but I wasn’t interested in writing about them today, and then Hubby called from work. His Aunt Carolyn, who is almost 90, was taken to the hospital with dizziness and difficult breathing. So of course, fear jumps in. I’ve been waiting for the next two. You know the old wives tale, “death comes in threes”. One of my dear friends passed away last week, he had been sick for awhile, so it was not a surprise, and neither will it be a surprise if Hubby’s Aunt Carolyn passes. Then there was my son last weekend when he came to visit that told us that Hubby’s Uncle Frank was not doing well. Uncle Frank has cheated death for 10 years now. He was in hospice 10 years ago from agent orange leukemia, and the doctor’s told him he didn’t have much time, so all the family members that could went to visit him, and then he turned around, and has been alive and kicking since then. He is the comedian in the family and after he went home from hospice, he sent out an email to all those that had visited him that he was not reimbursing for airplane tickets or hotel rooms. And then there is my friend Marcia’s mother, who is 93 and just lost her husband a couple of weeks ago and is in ill health, and the big one, my mom, who had told me years ago she was going to die on August 1st, she just didn’t know which year, so I get a little more flakey as it looms closer, and then always breathe a big sigh of relief when it passes. Although, this year might be different as in the last 3 weeks her mental and physical health have taken a big downward turn. So who is it going to be? It is giving my mind something to do. I know there is nothing I can about any of it. I do have the belief that we are a Soul having a human experience, so that leads me to the thought that there really is not an ending, just a new beginning. Sometimes I am jealous of those that have passed, not burdened by the limitations of the human body, but again, if you are not in one, can you smell the sweetness of a rose? or feel the hug of a grandchild, a lick from your puppy or the purr of your cat and the hand that reaches out for you in the middle of the night to make sure you are there? We will go see Aunt Carolyn tonight after Hubby gets off of work. She will be irritated that we came, saying it’s no big deal, she doesn’t really like to be bothered, but we will go anyway. Because, well, you just never know. Blessings.
